Rosie ride out

As it had been sunny, I thought I'd get Rosie out of the garage and put some kms on the odometer.

Since she was delivered almost three months ago, she has managed 19kms.

The appalling wet weather and flooding not conducive to small motorcycle riding, or in fact any motorcycle riding.

So this time I had my proper FT Aqua jacket on and Spada gloves. It was freezing. My body okay and the bodywork does keep the wind off.

On a long straight I had her up to 80kmh but with such a low mileage and still running in I stuck to the more sensible 50 in villages and 60 outside.

Once you get used to putting get down at a junction then it's almost like riding Döra!

I stopped to take a pic by the Light Railway.

The paint is supposed to glow in the dark but I had expected the glow to be pink or maybe reddish! And when it was dark not in full sun!!!

Very odd. If it is dry tomorrow I might take her up to meet the other in members at the cafe!

Rosie's First Outing

So once we got back from Folkestone and we had our fish and chips I thought as it was still dry (air, roads damp) I'd pull Rosie onto the drive and take her to the local petrol station and fill the tank.

The filler is lockable and at the front of the riding position but low down!

Good job I was looking closely as it was at £3.48 and it was filled to the brim. That equates to 2.65 litres. It had some in there already.

Then I shot back home to get my phone.

Claire took these as I set off again for a short run along the seafront.

This is when I actually looked at the speedometer. Bloody hell, 50 seems so much slower! Ah. It has a kilometre speedo and odometer.

I had a run up to Seabrook car park. It is so cold my fingers were turning numb!

So back and now from 3kms on the she had 19kms....

Rosie 2

Despite being a 125 Scooter the designers have been at work and the headlamp is pretty decent looking.

Nice design head light

Me after a ride round the close
Rosie and daddy had a short helmet-free ride around the close before she was tucked away next to big sister Döra.

Rosie had arrived!

Paul and Claire Devall would like to announce the arrival of a little one to be named Rosie.

She arrived at 1230pm on the 10th December 2013.

She is panted in a soft-touch pink.

Piaggio 125 "Fly"

I was just saying recently, that despite entering the UK Lottery and the Euro Lottery very often, that we hadn't won a fig for ages. Plus bemoaning the lack of good luck in general. Then an email arrived in my inbox today. I almost deleted it and then I decided to read it.....

I have won this scooter. I have no idea how many people would have entered but the odds on winning must have been pretty steep.

The competition was to win one of five scooters. Each one painted to match an Apple iPhone 5C.

The prize I entered for, and won, is a Piaggio 125 Fly scooter in Red, and an iPhone 5C in the same colour and a Nolan N43 helmet (with bluetooth kit), that could be colour matched if need be.

I have opted (maybe) for the non colour matched version.

I have a new phone and also a new Shoei so it looks like Claire will have the helmet and phone! And just in time for Christmas too!!

GULP!

Me?

Surely some mistake.

It's all true. All I have to do it contact my insurance company to get it insured and the selling dealer will get it registered in my name.

It seems they will deliver it to my door!  I had expected to pick it up from the Piaggio dealer in Maidstone - Laguna, where Döra came from, or at least the Ashford branch of the same dealership.

It is perfect for me to commute to the station on it in the better weather and also to get Claire trying two wheels.

At an estimated 150mpg it might replace Döra in our old age!!

Watch this space. Still not sunk in until I have it on the drive.  Better clear a space for it in the garage.
